Freshman Esparza Dominates in Circle as Hollister Tops Chowchilla 3–1 Runs were scarce Saturday, but Hollister leaned on a standout performance from freshman Sidney Esparza to secure a 3-1 win. Making her varsity debut in the circle, Esparza went the distance, recording all 21 outs while striking out 11 and allowing just two hits and one run without issuing a walk. Hollister broke a 1-1 tie in the fifth inning when an error brought home two runs and Sophia Galindo added an RBI groundout to give the Haybalers the lead for good. Esparza, CSUMB-bound Avery Chavez, and Isabel Gonzalez each recorded a hit, while Hollister swiped five bases to back the complete-game effort.
